Sisterhood: The Quiet Thread That Holds Us Together
Sisterhood: The Quiet Thread That Holds Us Together

A Morning Reflection
This morning, as I sip my coffee on this soft, golden end-of-fall day, I find myself thinking about sisterhood.
Not just the kind bound by blood but the kind that shows up in unexpected rooms and fleeting moments.
You’d think a woman with five sisters of her own, twenty-two step-sisters, five daughters, four daughters-in-law, and fifteen granddaughters would never feel lonely. But life has its own way of humbling us, reminding us that even with a full house, the heart can still feel a quiet ache.
A Circle of Strangers Who Felt Like Sisters
A few days ago, I sat in a book-club circle with fifteen beautiful women. I didn’t know their stories, their struggles, or their triumphs. But for a few hours, we were bound together by courage, motherhood, survival, and truth.
We were sisters for a moment in time.
Sisters in strength.
Sisters in spirit.
And when the evening ended, something in me ached because I knew I might never see those women again.
What Makes a True Sister?
When I came home, I sat with this question: What is sisterhood, really?
Is it a lifelong companion who grows old with you? The childhood friend who knows every version of your life? Maybe. That’s a beautiful story.
But my reality is different.
My sisterhood is reborn every day.
It shows up in book clubs, church pews, grocery store lines, podcast interviews, Zoom calls, Tupperware parties, and neighborhood gatherings.
I meet sisters wherever women gather with open hearts.
The Magic in Momentary Connections
There’s something sacred about those quick, powerful connections we make with strangers that spark of recognition, that unspoken “I see you. I’ve lived my own fire too.”
Those are the connections that weave the quiet, resilient tapestry of womanhood.
A Simple Thank You
So as I finish the last sip of my coffee, I want to say thank you.
Thank you to every woman who has crossed my path and left light behind.
Thank you to the sisters who stayed and to the sisters who appeared for just a moment.
Each of you has mattered more than you know.
Now, a Question for You
Who are the sisters in your life?
Not just the ones raised under the same roof but the sisters in your book clubs, your churches, your parent meetings, your gyms, your yoga classes, your neighborhoods the women who touch your heart and inspire you simply by being who they are.
Age is a number.
Biology is a footnote.
Sisterhood is a soul connection.
Looking Ahead
My hope is that I can be one of those sisters in your life even if only through these words.
And it fills me with excitement to imagine how many more incredible women I will meet as this journey continues.
Yes, I get lonely sometimes.
But loneliness doesn’t mean emptiness.
It means my heart is open and waiting.
And that, my sisters, is a beautiful place to be.
